Luminosity Measurement at the CMS Experiment (Dr. José Benitez, Sonora Univ.)

America/Mexico_City
Description

Luminosity is an important quantity for the LHC experiments, needed for most physics analyses including precision SM measurements and BSM searchers. With the increasing LHC datasets the precision on the SM measurements starts to be affected by the luminosity uncertainty.  For this reason, the CMS experiment uses a broad set of luminosity detectors (luminometers) to drive down this uncertainty. In this talk, the different luminometers will be described as well as the calibration method. Results will be shown for the different datasets in Run 1 and 2, as well as plans for Run 3 and the HL-LHC.
